Books and Paintings by Richard and Margaret

     A native of Ashland, Alabama, Dick graduated from Clay County High School.  He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge CVA-45 during the Korean War.  He received a Bachelors Degree from Auburn University and his Masters and Doctorate Degrees from the University of Georgia.  Following thirty-six years as an educator in Alabama, Georgia, Newfoundland, and the Bahamas, he is retired and lives in Rome, Georgia.

 

     Dick is a member of several writers organizations, including: Rome Area Writers, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Georgia Writers Association, and Southeastern Writers Association.

 

     Land of the Giddiwonks is Dick’s first book.  Several others are in progress.

                 Artist, writer and retired educator, Margaret grew up in the southeast and is currently living in Rome, Georgia. She earned an undergraduate degree in Art Education and Elementary Education from Berry College, a Masters in Art Education from UGA and a Masters in School Counseling from West Georgia College. She taught art for many years in Floyd County Schools and Shorter College.

                 Her choices of art media are watercolor, graphite drawing and silkscreen printing. Click on the gallery link to see examples of her work.

                 Additionally, she writes and illustrates for children.  She illustrated Land of the Giddiwonks, written by her husband, Richard. She has several short stories in The Lavender Mountain Anthology, published annually by Rome Area Writers.
