Giddiwonks

Two months, three weeks, five days and three hours ago, Krix disappeared without a trace.  Not a day had passed that Tilly didn't wonder what happened to him.  They had been playmates as long as she could remember and over the past few years, had become best friends.  She missed him. Often her sadness would bring tears to her eyes when she was alone.  A thirteen-year-old girl isn't supposed to cry over a boy when someone else is around, especially her friends at school.  At least, that's the way she felt.

             It happened in early June, just a few days after school was out for summer vacation.  Tilly and Krix had been playing hide and seek in the woods near their neighborhood.  For weeks Tilly was too frightened to come back to the area.  Still, the uncertainty--not knowing--constantly stirred her emotions and she knew she must confront the fears and move on with her life.

Tilly, the protagonist,
